Cheez-It® Onion Rings

The classic onion ring with a Cheez-It® twist! Enjoy dunking these in Cheezy ranch for even MORE Cheez-It® flavor.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying
  • 2 cups Cheez-It® crackers
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch thick rings
  • Hidden Valley Cheez-It® Ranch, for serving

Directions

1. Heat 2 inches of oil in a Dutch oven or deep skillet. Line a sheet pan with paper towels.

2. In the bowl of a food processor, process Cheez-It® crackers until they are a fine crumb.

3. In a shallow bowl, whisk flour, garlic powder powder, and 1 teaspoon salt together in the first dish. Whisk milk and egg together in a second shallow bowl. Place Cheez-It® crumbs in the third dish.

4. Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, turning several times until fully coated with flour. Transfer to the egg mixture and toss until coated, tapping off any excess liquid. Place onion in the Cheez-It® crumbs and turn several times to coat, scooping crumbs over the ring if necessary. Transfer to a sheet pan

5. Once oil is hot, fry 5-6 onion rings at a time until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels and repeat the remaining rings. Season with salt.

6. Serve on a platter with Hidden Valley Cheez-It® Ranch.
